Q1 : | Why is a search not executed after inputting keywords in the search box and pressing the Enter key? |
A1 : | You need to press the "Search" button. |
Q2 : | How can I get detailed information from the hit list of a keyword search? |
A2 : | Tick the checkbox of the hits of your interest, then click the “Go" button. |
Q3 : | Why is the network diagram of molecular interactions not displayed sometimes? |
A3 : | The network diagrams are displayed when the number of interactors is less than 200. Otherwise, the interactors are shown in a table. |
Q4 : | Networks are not displayed for certain keywords. Why? |
A4 : | The Safari browser is not completely compatible with the Networks window. Use other browsers such as Chrome or FireFox. |
Q5 : | Sometimes some links are missing in Molecular Interactions. Why? |
A5 : | Vapros refers to several external database servers dynamically. When those servers are temporarily down for some reasons, Vapros cannot fetch the data. |
Q6 : | When genes with the name like xxx1 and xxx2 are searched by using xxx in keyword search, these genes cannot be found in the search result. Why and how can I search for such genes? |
A6 : | Some genes have so many paralogs, and we intentionally skip some matching results to avoid unexpectedly large number of search results. You can search for such genes with "xxx [gene/protein]". |
Q7 : | In the search result table, some long gene names are partially shown in the table, due to the fixed width of the table. How can I identify the entire name of the gene? |
A7 : | Follow the link of EntrezGene ID or UniProtKB ID for proteins/genes, and you can find the entire name of the genes. The same situation may occur for chemical compound. In that case, follow the reference ID for chemical compounds. |
Q8 : | Can I sort the search results for each database in the search result table? |
A8 : | A column of the search result table can be sorted by clicking the triangle icon in the top row of the table. |
